Car sharing service Yandex. Drive ”announced that it will soon enter the European market. The plans of the company were told by the head of the car-sharing unit, Anton Ryazanov, quoted by the Financial Times.
According to him, “Yandex. Drive ”has not yet determined the city in which the test launch will be conducted. Among the options indicated are Madrid, Copenhagen, as well as the smaller cities of France and Italy.
It is expected that the service will begin to work in Europe before the end of 2020, the exact date has not yet been determined.
Yandex’s plans coincided with the announcement of the German company ShareNow (a joint venture between BMW and Daimler automakers) to leave the United States and suspend operations in major European cities: London, Brussels and Florence, the newspaper notes.
In early January, the results of a public opinion poll were announced, in which 62 percent of respondents across the country expressed dissatisfaction with public transport. In Moscow, one of the most popular alternatives was car sharing. In the regions, private cars are more common.
Yandex also announced the creation of its own virtual mobile operator. The base for it may be the operator Tele2.
