Last year, in the Middle Kingdom, the new generation Volkswagen Lavida model made its debut – a sedan and a large hatchback, such cars carry the Plus prefix, they are built on the MQB “trolley”. At the same time, the previous “four-door”, already just Lavida, remained in service, it is based on the PQ34 platform from Golf IV. The production of the entire family is established in the PRC at the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture plant. They are still not going to refuse the previous Lavida – the modernized sedan is presented.

The grille now flaunts four thin chrome lines instead of three wide dies, the headlights have the same shape, but the “stuffing” has been replaced, another model has received another front bumper with integrated LED stripes for daytime running lights. The lights did not change, but the shiny decorative “line” was moved from the trunk lid below.

In terms of dimensions, the Volkswagen Lavida is only slightly inferior to the global new Jetta: the length of the Chinese restyled sedan is 4613 mm (+7 mm compared to the pre-reform version), the wheelbase is the same 2610 mm. In the “world” Jetta of the latest generation, these figures are 4702 and 2686 mm, respectively, in the Chinese Lavida Plus sedan (and it, in fact, is an analogue of the Jetta, only with its own design) – 4670 and 2688 mm.

Inside there are other airflow deflectors, a new multimedia system with a large touch screen, plus other finishing materials. Also provided for Lavida: air conditioning, “leather” interior, front and side airbags, cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, electric sunroof.

As before, the sedan is available with an uncontested “aspirated” 1.5 EA211 series with a capacity of 112 hp. (145 Nm). The engine is combined with a five-speed “mechanics” or a six-speed “automatic”. The new four-door Lavida Plus, in addition to the atmospheric engine, also has a 1.4 TSI turbo four (150 hp, 250 Nm) with 7DSG, in addition, this model has an electric version. The latest generation hatchback can be bought with 1.4 TSI or 1.2 TSI (116 hp, 200 Nm), both engines are equipped with 7DSG.

The price of the restyled “just” Lavida is in the range from 99,900 to 122,900 yuan, which is equivalent to about 898,000 – 1,105,000 rubles at the current rate. Lavida Plus sedan will cost at least 112,900 yuan (1 015 000 rubles).

Note, if we summarize the sales results of all VW Lavida modifications (new and previous generations), then last year the model is on the first line among the best-sellers of the Chinese market: more than 500,000 cars have been sold.

“Just” Lavida is still being sold in the Philippines, where it is likely to be updated next year. In other markets, the sedan is not represented. Lavida Plus is currently only available in China.

Meanwhile, in China there is still a “four-door” with the appearance of a global Jetta – this model is called Sagitar, it is produced by the FAW Volkswagen joint venture.
