Volvo cars in Russia will become more expensive due to increased waste collection

Volvo warned that in 2020, brand cars will rise in price by 30-110 thousand rubles. This is due to the decision of the Russian government to increase the utilization fee for new cars imported into the country.

The decision to change the utilization fee was made by the authorities at the end of November. The largest increase was in the passenger car segment: on average, it grew by 110.7 percent, and in the most popular segment of passenger cars with engines from a liter to two – by 112.4 percent.

The XC60 crossover will become the most expensive – its cost will immediately increase by 110 thousand rubles. Thus, in 2020, the basic model with a 190-horsepower engine will cost 3,479,000 rubles against the current 3,369,000 rubles.

Other models on average will add 80 thousand rubles to the price. The least increase in utilization fee will be reflected in the V60 Cross Country station wagon – its cost in 2020 will increase by 30,000 rubles.

According to the results of November 2019, the mid-size XC60 crossover became the brand’s best-selling model on the Russian market, with a circulation of 368 copies. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 37.3 percent.
