Volkswagen makes the main bet on the first-born of the new “green” line, the ID.3 hatchback. Its production at the plant in Zwickau, Germany, started in November, although sales will only begin next summer. According to the adjusted plan, ID.3 will help the group in the coming years to take a leading position in the e-mobility segment and will take on a large share of sales from the planned volume of one million cars by 2023. The figures are ambitious, given the fact that since the presentation of e-up! in 2013 Volkswagen sold a little more than 250,000 electric cars.
