The German Patent Office has registered names for three new Volkswagen models: T-Sport, T-Go and T-Coupe. It is assumed that one of the names – T-Sport – will receive the European version of the Nivus crossover for the Brazilian market, which will premiere in the spring of 2020. The novelty will be built on the basis of the scalable modular platform MQB-AO, which formed the basis of the new generation Volkswagen Polo hatchback. According to preliminary information, the overall length of the model with a wheelbase of 2560 mm will not exceed four meters. The crossover will be offered with two engines: a 1.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with 115 hp. and a 120-strong “aspirated” working volume of 1.6 liters. Both motors will be combined with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
The second novelty may be the coupe-like version of the T-Sport, which will enter the market under the name T-Coupe. As befits a cross-coupe, the car will differ in a sloping roof line and the shape of the rear of the body.
The third name – T-Go – the company can use for a compact crossover, currently known as Taigun. The Germans showed similar prototypes in 2012 and 2014. The length of the car also does not exceed four meters. The development of new items, which is positioned as a global model, will be entrusted to the Brazilian division of the brand. Such a crossover will appear on the European market.
