Little is known about the technical stuffing of the “warmed up” versions: British media believe that the Golf GTI will retain the EA888 2.0-liter gas turbo engine, but after the upgrade, the standard version will be about 245 horsepower. Later, the successor to the 290-horsepower Golf GTI TCR will enter the market. At the same time, the GTI will not receive a moderately hybrid “add-on”.
As for the diesel version of the GTD, such a Golf can be electrified and will acquire a 48-volt starter-generator. As part of the power plant, a 2.0-liter turbodiesel from a hatchback of the previous generation will remain, but its return will increase from the current 184 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. A hot hatch can be ordered with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed robot.
