Volkswagen again became the largest automaker

Lexus

Comparing the results with 2018, Volkswagen increased its performance by 1.3 percent, while Toyota, which sold 10 742 122 (including Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino), grew by 1.4 percent. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance has not yet published the final amount, but the companies included in it have already disclosed world sales for the past year: in total, about 10.298 million cars are obtained. The fall was 4.3 percent.

The fact that Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi slid from the first place that it occupied in 2018 is explained by the difficult period for the alliance. A day earlier, Reuters found out that Nissan was developing a plan to cut spending by $ 4.4 billion by 2023. The strategy includes the elimination of thousands of jobs, the closure of several factories, the reduction of model lines and the number of configurations of existing cars.
