Yandex unmanned vehicles have passed a series of tests on the streets of Las Vegas in preparation for the CES Consumer Electronics Show. At the same time, the cars of the Russian company became the first vehicles on the roads of the state of Nevada, which entered the route in a completely autonomous mode without a test engineer in the driver’s seat.
The 6.7 km long demonstration route included multi-lane segments, complex turns with oncoming traffic, pedestrian crossings, and also regulated and unregulated intersections. In total, cars drove along the streets of Las Vegas for more than 7 thousand kilometers.
Since the beginning of 2018, Yandex unmanned vehicles have traveled more than 1 million km on the roads of Russia and Israel as part of the tests. Autopilot cars learned how to move independently in the conditions of busy Moscow traffic, as well as maneuver along the narrow streets of Tel Aviv. In addition, drones carried passengers to Skolkovo and Innopolis. The tests were carried out in different weather conditions, including in snow and rain.
