The rules for registering new cars explained in the traffic police. According to representatives of the department, car owners will still have a 10-day period during which they can move in a new unregistered car without license plates, Autonews.ru correspondent reports.
According to Part 2, Article 12.2. “Driving a vehicle in violation of the rules for installing state registration marks on it”, driving a car without state registration marks is punishable by a fine of 5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights for a period of one to three months. This rule will apply only to those motorists who have registered new cars with the traffic police or dealers (assigned a virtual license plate to the car), but have not received physical license plates and drove onto public roads.
In order to avoid a fine, drivers will be required to obtain a license plate when registering at the traffic police departments, when registering through dealers or to make signs on their own at any of the authorized organizations – their cost should not exceed 2 thousand rubles.
