As part of the GR Heritage project, Toyota will revive the production of spare parts for the Supra sports car in A70 and A80 bodies. First of all, rare details will appear on sale that have no analogues and which are difficult to find.
For example, for the Toyota Supra A70, which was produced from 1986 to 1993, the production of a cardan shaft, door handles, fuel level sensor, gaskets and a front nameplate has already been confirmed. For the A80, which lasted from 1993 to 2002, the headlights, door handles and brake booster will be launched first of all.
They want to launch sales this year, but Toyota representatives warn that difficulties may arise during the production, which is why the start of sales will shift to 2021.
Moreover, the company is ready to expand the initial list of spare parts. To do this, there is a special form on the site where the owners of sports cars can indicate what details need to be added to the assortment. Toyota will analyze this data and put into production the most popular spare parts.
This is not the first such initiative. In 2017, Nissan launched the Nismo Heritage program, in which the plant again began producing components for the RB26DETT motor, which was installed on three iconic Skyline generations: R32, R33 and R34.
In November 2019, a similar program was launched by Mazda. To help owners of the Miata roadster save their cars, the company began to produce components for the iconic model. There are 42 items in the list of equipment available to order: from small plugs to body panels.
