The new generation of Toyota Supra is often criticized for being built on the basis of the BMW Z4. But now these conversations should, at a minimum, subside, because Supra was able to overtake the German sports car, but not anywhere else, but at the Nurburgring itself
Mass testing of sports cars on the “Northern loop” was conducted by the German Sport Auto magazine. Toyota GR Supra showed a time of 7 minutes 52.17 seconds. At the same time, the BMW Z4 M40i, tested by the publication a year ago, was able to drive the track in 7 minutes 55.41 seconds. Thus, the gap between the “original” and the “copy” was 3.5 seconds, not in favor of the “original”.
At the wheel was Christian Gebhardt (Christian Gebhardt), who repeatedly participated in the marathon “24 hours of the Nurburgring.” It is curious that a year ago it was he who piloted the Z4. Meanwhile, Supra Project Manager Tetsuya Tada in an interview said that the car developed by his team was able to pass the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 40 seconds.
