Toyota has officially unveiled the smallest model in the range called the Aygo X. The mini class model has been reinvented in the form of a crossover with robust lines.
After presenting a teaser for its new mini class model, Toyota today launched the Aygo X model. Reinvented in the form of a mini class crossover, Aygo X remains true to the lines announced by the Prologue concept presented earlier this year.
Toyota Aygo X – mini class crossover
Toyota says the Aygo X is a unique proposition in the mini segment. At the stylistic level, it retains some of the lines of the current Aygo model, as well as some of the specific elements such as the glass tailgate, textile retractable ceiling and vertical taillights.
Although the ground clearance has increased by 50 mm, the silhouette of the Aygo model remains familiar, with very short consoles which promises excellent maneuverability in the city. The model uses a shortened version of the GA-B platform also used by the new Yaris and Yaris Cross models. Aygo X is 325 mm longer than the previous model, and the wheelbase has increased by 90 mm. The trunk also increased by 60 liters for a total of 231 liters.
Inside, the new crossover welcomes its passengers with curved lines and colorful inserts that match the exterior. In the center is the 9-inch screen that integrates the Toyota Smart Connect Infotainment system that supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity. A second screen is in front of the steering wheel, and the Aygo X also offers ambient lighting, wireless charging for the mobile phone and a JBL audio system with four speakers and a 300 W amplifier.
Toyota Aygo X can be configured with a single engine: 1.0 three-cylinder intake that offers 72 hp and 93 Nm. It can be paired with a five-speed gearbox or an S-CVT automatic transmission.
The new model is produced in Europe at the Toyota plant in Kolin, Czech Republic. Sales will begin in 2022.
