Toyota’s U.S. office has announced an upcoming recall campaign that will affect 696,000 Toyota 4Runner, Camry, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Avalon and Corolla, as well as the Lexus LS 500, LC 500, RC 500, RC, GS, IS, ES , LX, GX, RX, and NX. We are talking about cars 2018-2019 years of release, which were sold in the US market.

The reason for the recall was the defect of the fuel pump, because of which it can fail, which threatens to stop the engine and emergency situations. As part of the campaign, whose launch is scheduled for March 2020, cars will be repaired for free for owners. It is still unknown whether the detected defect is characteristic of cars sold outside the United States, including in Russia.

In October last year, 1,153 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs sold on the Russian market from March 12 to April 18, 2019 fell under review. Then it was reported that on these vehicles the fuel pipe connecting the high pressure fuel pump to the fuel rail could be incorrectly tightened. This may cause fuel leakage and engine shutdown.
