German workshop ABT Sportsline added sporty touches to the restyled Volkswagen T6.1 minivan. Atelier experts announced firmware for the most powerful versions of the 2.0-liter diesel engine, replaced the standard suspension with a Bilstein product with the ability to adjust ride height, and decorated the Multivan with custom wheels.
Engineers ABT Sportsline are ready to programmatically increase the impact of the updated T6.1: while the chip is certified for only one version of the 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which can increase productivity from 150 horsepower (340 Nm of torque) to 180 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. However, soon German experts promise to start selling firmware for 199-horsepower (450 Nm of torque) biturbo diesel: it is boosted by 226 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque.
Increased power will require fine-tuning of the chassis: the Bilstein sports suspension will allow, if necessary, to reduce ground clearance by 40-70 millimeters compared to standard ground clearance of 193 millimeters.
Externally “charged” minivan can be recognized by 19- or 20-inch ten-spoke ABT wheels – at the request of the customer, the wheels can be painted with matte or glossy black paint.
In February 2016, the ABT workshop celebrated its 120th anniversary with the launch of the aggressive Volkswagen T6 with a special aerodynamic body kit, a pair of double-barreled exhaust and an accelerated engine.
It is possible that over time, a set of external improvements will be prepared for the restyled vans of the T6.1 family.
