Since January 1, Russian motorists have the opportunity to register purchased cars directly at car dealerships, the traffic police told Izvestia. At the same time, the police specified that if the driver registered the vehicle with the car dealer, then the right that allows driving without registration signs for 10 days does not apply to the car enthusiast.
“From the moment of registration, when the state license plate was assigned to the car, he no longer has options for driving without a number,” explained Nikolai Sheyukhin, deputy head of the Main Directorate for Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, emphasizing that the car owner must “make signs for participation in road traffic” .
At the same time, Roman Mishurov, the head of the department of supervisory activities of the Main Directorate for Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, noted that if the car is purchased “with hands” when the car already has a license plate, then a change of ownership can be made by arriving at the traffic police registration department.
According to Mishurov, only companies from the register of specialized organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs can be allowed to register cars.
Earlier, as Rambler reported, reporters found out that car dealers were not ready for innovations, according to which buyers can register a purchased car directly at a car dealership. Entrepreneurs emphasized that “the traffic police of the regions do not know how car dealerships should go through accreditation and be admitted to the registration process,” so dealers are still waiting for clarification.
