The punishment for leaving a place of an accident can change

Recall that now, for the abandonment of an accident, the following sanctions apply: deprivation of a driver’s license for a period of one year to one and a half years or administrative arrest for a period of up to fifteen days. Very soon, a lighter sentence may be added to them – a fine of 5,000 rubles. It is assumed that now a preventive measure will be selected depending on the severity of the accident.

It is interesting that the explanatory documentation states that a monetary fine for leaving the accident scene existed until 2007, but then the punishment was tightened due to the difficult accident situation at that time. But over the past 10 years, there has been a tendency to reduce the number of accidents, therefore, punishments can be mitigated. Among the other reasons for the appearance of the fine are also called the general trend towards the humanization of legislation.
