The Volkswagen Touareg R, the most powerful SUV in the Tuareg line, will debut at the Geneva Motor Show as a plug-in hybrid. Shortly before the premiere of the novelty, scheduled for March 3, the company revealed some details about the “charged” model in all senses.
Touareg R received a hybrid installation, which includes a three-liter gasoline “turbo six” and an electric motor. Their total return is 462 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. For an SUV, an all-wheel drive system and an eight-band “automatic” are provided. According to preliminary data, the Touareg R can offer an adaptive suspension.
The SUV has several driving modes, including on clean electricity. The battery capacity of 14.1 kilowatt-hours is enough to cover a distance of 45 kilometers, and the maximum speed will be 140 kilometers per hour. Other dynamic characteristics of the model are kept secret.
Volkswagen Touareg R will appear on the European market by the end of 2020, prices will be announced closer to launch.
On the Russian market, the most powerful Touareg is equipped with a three-liter V6 engine, whose power is 340 horsepower. The maximum speed of such an SUV is limited to 250 kilometers per hour, and acceleration from standstill to “hundreds” takes 5.9 seconds. You can buy a car with such an installation for 5,159,000 rubles.
