In January 2020, an order of the Ministry of Transport of Russia entered into force, changing the requirements for parking in yards of residential buildings

On January 1, 2020, the Ministry of Transport Decree No. 199 entered into force, which changed the parking requirements for vehicles owned by legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. Now it is forbidden to create public parking lots for commercial vehicles in residential areas and to leave cars of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs in such areas. At the moment, the innovation was launched in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sevastopol, Autonews.ru explained in the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

The new ban will apply to buses, taxi cars and trucks operated by individual entrepreneurs and legal entities. As for car-sharing machines, according to the response from the department, they can still be left in the yards.

“A car sharing agreement is, by its legal nature, a short-term rental agreement for a vehicle. The principles for concluding such an agreement are regulated by the Civil Code. Accordingly, the obligation to provide parking of vehicles in parking lots that meet the requirements of Order No. 199 does not apply to car-sharing cars, ”the Ministry of Transport noted.
