The future Range Rover Sport, the first shot of the Cadillac Escalade and the new Skoda Octavia RS: the main thing for the week

Cadillac

From this collection you will, as usual, learn the five major automotive news of the past week. Everything is just the most interesting: the first information about the new Range Rover Sport, the fifth-generation GMC Yukon U-turn, the sound of the electric Maserati, the official image of the next-generation Cadillac Escalade and the appearance of the future Skoda Octavia RS and Octavia Scout.

Details about the new Range Rover Sport

The British magazine Autocar shared details about the new generation Range Rover Sport. Insiders predict that the model will switch to the MLA modular aluminum platform, which will complement the line of powertrains with electric motors, reduce weight, improve road behavior and increase fuel economy of ICE versions. Autocar reporters rival the new Porsche Cayenne and believe that the advanced MLA architecture will allow the new Range Rover Sport to demonstrate better handling in the off-road segment. However, a radical design change from Range Rover Sport can not be expected: in the third generation, the SUV will retain the style of its predecessor.

New GMC Yukon taught to unfold on the spot

The fifth-generation GMC Yukon SUV, recently introduced, received an unusual function – thanks to the special settings of the on-board electronics, it can literally unfold on the spot. The function is called Hurricane Turn (hurricane U-turn) and is similar to Tank Turn (tank U-turn) in electric Rivian. One of the engineers at GMC told Motor Trend about the operation of the system. To activate the Hurricane Turn, you need to turn off stabilization, completely turn the steering wheel and press the gas pedal. If the SUV is on a surface with a low coefficient of adhesion (dirt, gravel or snow), then the electronics will selectively brake the wheels, gradually reducing the radius of rotation around the central axis.

Listen to how the electric Maserati will sound

Maserati has announced the start of a testing phase for a new, all-electric powerplant. The first battery models of the Italian brand will be the next generation GranTurismo and GranCabrio. The company also developed sound for electric cars. The innovative powerplant, as Maserati calls it, was developed by the Innovation Lab’s own technical center in Modena. There, during the experimental phase, a unique soundtrack was created for future Maserati electric vehicles – the special sound is the hallmark of cars with internal combustion engines, and the company intends to continue the tradition even after switching to electric traction.

Next-Generation Cadillac Escalade Revealed in Official Image

Cadillac showed off a new teaser for the next-generation Escalade SUV. The model will be unveiled on February 4 simultaneously with the premiere of the short film Spike Lee Anthem (Anthem). Spy photos of the pre-production “Escalade” have already fully revealed its appearance. But officially they showed only the front panel with an OLED- “tidy” and a multimedia display with a diagonal of 38 inches, and the front end of the SUV with narrow headlights and long vertical stripes of navigation lights. Judging by the teasers, visually Escalade is close to the new Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban, as well as the XT6 crossover, which will soon enter the Russian market.

Appearance Skoda Octavia RS and Octavia Scout revealed before the premiere

The exterior of the new Octavia modifications was revealed through the preview of Columbus’ proprietary infotainment system. Screenshots of the images were posted on the Czech brand forum. At the same time, Skoda shared details about the technical stuffing of the Octavia RS, naming the debut date of the sports liftback and station wagon. The Skoda Octavia RS will differ from ordinary fourth-generation liftbacks and station wagons in the original bumpers, red brake calipers, rectangular exhaust pipes, wheel design and the optional anti-chrome package. In addition, a small spoiler will appear on the fifth door of the liftback.
