The concept of the “first supercrossover in the world of racing” – the Lamborghini Urus ST-X – the Italian brand introduced in 2018, a few months after the premiere of the “civilian” model. According to Maurizio Reggiani, head of research and development at Lamborghini, Autoblog, racing Urus will appear in the final of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World 2020, which will be held from October 31 to November 1 in Misano, Italy. Crossovers will take part in a demonstration race that will introduce the public to the new customer monocup. Currently, the motorsport division of Squadra Corsa continues to prepare the car for racing.
Lamborghini Urus ST-X is equipped with the same 4.0-liter V8 engine with two turbines (650 hp, 850 Nm) as the road version, but there are differences. The track crossover was equipped with a wing, side exhaust pipes, a hood with increased air intakes and a full range of safety systems that comply with FIA rules. At the same time, it became 550 kg lighter than the road model: the curb weight of the Urus ST-X is 1650 kg.
According to Autoblog, later in the Urus lineup there will be a plug-in hybrid modification built on the platform of the road version of the model. As Reggiani promised, the gas-powered Urus will be different from the likes of the Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga, although he admitted that it is difficult to do.
