The Moscow International Motor Show takes place every two years in early September. The exhibition was first held in 1992, and since 2006 the Crocus Expo exhibition center has become a permanent venue. In 2018, the event was attended by 565.3 thousand people, and the main headliners were AvtoVAZ, Renault, Hyundai and several other brands.
Since 2016, the number of participants in the event has been declining.
Four years ago, Kia, Suzuki, Subaru, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Toyota, Volkswagen, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Ford, UAZ and other brands missed the car dealership. In 2018, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Cadillac, Skoda, Nissan, Porsche and about ten other companies refused to participate.
However, in 2020, the car dealership was threatened with cancellation, not because of the thinning list of participants, but because of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. For the same reason, earlier it was decided not to hold a motor show in Beijing and Geneva.
