According to industry representatives, the next few weeks will be crucial for a number of automakers. Stocks of spare parts and materials are depleted, and Chinese suppliers can not resume work due to the outbreak of the coronavirus 2019-nCoV. Moreover, the epicenter of infection is in the province of Hubei – the largest logistics and production hub, where a large number of manufacturers of automotive components are concentrated.

Because of the coronavirus, the Chinese authorities were forced to extend the New Year holidays until February 9th. However, there is every reason to believe that they will stretch for a longer period. FCA management expects to resume the supply of spare parts within 2-4 weeks, and if this does not happen, the concern will have to stop the conveyors at European enterprises. True, it is not specified on which. FCA now has 23 operating sites, including motor and transmission plants in Italy.
