Indian joint venture Maruti Suzuki plans to launch five-door version of Suzuki Jimny on home market
The length of the body will increase from 3650 to a maximum of 3999 millimeters, since in India tax incentives apply for cars shorter than four meters.
With lengthening, the Suzuki Jimny will not technically change. The three-door SUV has a frame, two continuous axles, a rigidly connected four-wheel drive with a hitch, and a 102-horsepower gasoline aspirated 1.5, which combines with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
The five-door Suzuki Jimny is expected to be unveiled in 2022 or 2023. The model can be called Gypsy – under this name in India until 2019 Jimny / Samurai SJ40 of the 1982 model was sold.
