The final characteristics of the MX-30 crossover will be announced in the spring
Mazda MX-30 debuted in pre-production this fall. According to preliminary data, its 35.5 kilowatt-hour battery, consisting of 192 Panasonic prismatic elements, provides a range of 200 kilometers on a single charge. The final specifications will be announced next spring at the Geneva Motor Show.
Regarding the small capacity of the battery, Christian Schulze, director of the European Center for Brand Research and Development, told Automotive News Europe that Mazda has developed its first electric car for urban residents, who drive 40-70 kilometers a day on average, and therefore will charge it once in two to three days. The manufacturer does not plan to put a larger battery on the Mazda MX-30 in the future. However, in 2021, the model will still have an option that can cover more significant distances: for this it will be equipped with a small rotary engine that will charge the battery.
