Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is working on a new generation of seats. They will be equipped with tiny electric actuators that mimic the rhythm of walking. All for the health of customers
The technology proposed by JLR is electric actuators mounted in the seat cushion, alternately changing the shape of the left and right sides. In this way, the thigh muscles are stimulated, which for the brain creates the illusion of a leisurely walk.
Meanwhile, according to statistics, more than a quarter of the world’s population leads a sedentary lifestyle. This leads to weakening of the muscles of the legs, back pain, and also increases the chances of getting serious injuries when falling or straining. One of the solutions to this problem will be the creation of seats that simulate walking, which can reduce harm to health on long trips.
