When the importer comes with his own discount that is cumulated with the bonuses offered by the state, then the offer becomes difficult to match. This is the case of the Kia brand, which reduces the price of five models that qualify in the 2021 Scrap Offers – Kia. Photo: Bogdan Paraschiv, Kia
Scrap 2021 – Kia: eligible models
Kia Ceed
Korean compact is eligible for the Scrap program with all engines in the range. Moreover, a good part of them also qualify for Rabla Plus, being mild-hybrid systems. Whatever you choose, you will receive, first of all, a spacious, stable and comfortable model, which will protect you from worries, thanks to the 7-year or 150,000 km warranty.
The steering position is sporty, the plastics are soft in the upper half of the cabin, and the list of standard features for the cheapest version, Best, is comprehensive. There is a driver’s seat with height adjustment, 60/40% folding seat, air conditioning, 4 electric windows, central armrest with storage space, multimedia system with 5-inch touch screen and 4 speakers, autopilot, active band assistant, fog lights and cornering lights.
The most important thing is that you have a choice. Whether you want a versatile hatch, a dynamic shooting-brake or a station wagon with a 600 l trunk, Kia offers you the version perfectly adapted to your requirements. The range of engines is just as varied.
K Kia Ceed Buying Guide 💡
Fans of the petrol versions can choose between the 1.0 T-GDI 3-cylinder engine (120 hp) and the new 1.5 T-GDi (160 hp), while diesel fans receive the 1.6 l engine with 136 hp. All can be mated to 7DCT dual-clutch manual or automatic gearboxes, and petrol stations are available without or with electric assistance, in the form of a mild-hybrid system, while diesel is exclusively mild-hybrid.
We woven the conventional ones. The most affordable of them is the 1.0 T-GDI engine, with which Kia managed a downsize of effect. It is greedy for speed and even when it reaches the red zone, at 6,500 rpm, it continues to remain as quiet as at medium loads. It is a small marvel of technique, it has an atypical refinement of the three-cylinder configuration and only at idle you feel slight vibrations.
It shows a lot of vigor in the average speed zone, and Ceed doesn’t seem to be underpowered at all. Moreover, it is unexpectedly efficient, the consumption recorded by us in the test being 6.2 l / 100 km. One explanation is the relatively long gearbox, which allows it to reach 100 km / h in second gear at 6800 rpm.
Kia XCeed
Although he is part of the same family as Ceed, XCeed it has only the front doors common with the other body variants. Otherwise, it’s a crossover that integrates perfectly into the range. The driver and passengers are 4.2 cm higher than in Ceed, and the 17.4 cm ground clearance saves you trouble.
It is also more dynamic than traditional compact SUVs. The adjustments ensure a direction as fast as Ceed’s and a roll comparable to his own.
The three engines eligible for the Scrap program are 1.0 T-GDI, 1.5 T-GDI and 1.6 DSL. The standard equipment, City, does not lack the necessary ones. It has air conditioning, 4 electric windows, multimedia system with 5-inch touch screen, autopilot, band assistant, 60/40% split back seat, 16-inch alloy wheels with Michelin tires, LED headlights and fog lights.
Kia Sportage
Comfortable and mature, Sportage is one of the most elaborate compact SUVs on the market. The 1.6-liter diesel engine meets the requirements of the Rabla program. But, like all the other models presented in this article, Kia offers a significant discount for all engines in the range.
Returning to the turbodiesel engine, it can be combined with the 6-speed manual transmission, or with the 7DCT automatic. In addition, it comes in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Although it has only 1.6 l, it develops a maximum torque of 320 Nm starting at 2000 rpm. The average WLTP consumption of 5.8 l / 100 km for the most affordable version is remarkable.
The starting price, of 16,483 euros, is for the 1.6 GDI 6MT 4 × 2 Plus version, which, although benefiting from Kia discounts, does not qualify for Rabla. The cheapest version through Rabla is 1.6 DSL Hybrid 6MT HP 4 × 2 Plus, at 17,599 euros.
Kia Rio
Here is the most agile little hatch on the market. Rio enjoys such good settings for suspension and steering that the cornering incisiveness and, implicitly, safety, are at maximum levels in the segment.
Korean card received a facelift in the middle of last year. It brought a changed look, a revised list of features and mild-hybrid versions of the 1.0 T-GDi engine. In addition, absolutely all the engines in Rio’s offer qualify for the Rabla 2021 – Kia program, because they emit less than 140 g / km of CO2.
The most accessible of them is the 1.2 l aspirated. In our test it consumed a little over 6 l / 100 km in the city and 4.5 l / 100 km outside the locality. In addition, it is a pleasure to drive an aspirated “4-cylinder”, well balanced and eager for speed, in a segment full of 3-cylinder engines.
Kia Stonic
A small crossover that sits on the road better than most hatches? This despite a 16.5 cm ground guard… Yes, His name is Stonic. It is a pleasure to drive it and discover the balance between native maneuverability and suspension comfort.
As with the Rio brother, the entire Stonic range qualifies for the Scrap 2021 – Kia program. The new mild hybrid versions also benefit from the Rabla Plus discount for hybrids.
The equipment included in the starting price includes electrically adjustable mirrors, 60/40% folding bench, electric windows on the front, multimedia system with 8-inch touch screen and air conditioning.
