February fall – first in 2020. In January, the car market, contrary to expectations, grew by 1.8 percent, to 102.1 thousand copies. According to Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Jörg Schreiber, a market drop in the last month was expected. Schreiber emphasized that it would be possible to judge a full-fledged situation only next month, when AEB will release aggregate sales results for all brands for the first three months of this year.
Recent statistics do not reflect the number of BMW cars sold due to the global decision of the Bavarian automaker to change the frequency of publication of these data to quarterly. Excluding this information, in January and February, 218,442 new cars were sold in the country, which is 0.5 percent less than in the first two months of 2019.
