Russian motorists need to be fined for using gadgets while driving, said Vladimir Afonsky, deputy chairman of the State Duma committee on transport and construction. The list of banned devices may include mobile phones, tablets, smart watches, electronic bracelets, reports the Parliamentary newspaper.
The parliamentarian recalled that in 2007 in Russia drivers were forbidden to talk on the phone while driving without a headset. At the same time, according to him, over the past time many electronic devices have appeared in circulation that are not noted in the Code of Administrative Offenses.
“Today, there are not rare cases when drivers behind the wheel not only talk on the phone, but are also distracted by watching videos on their gadgets. People write SMS, take pictures, make posts on social networks while driving. All this distracts and provokes emergency situations, ”the deputy noted.
Afonsky emphasized that the facts of using gadgets while driving should be recorded, and violators should be punished. According to him, this will require a number of amendments to the legislation.
Earlier, as Rambler reported, representatives of the organization Russian Automobile Dealers (ROAD) proposed fines of 300 thousand rubles for Russian motorists twisting the mileage of used cars before selling. The initiative was directed to State Duma deputies who plan to consider it in February.
