In Russia, drivers are less likely to call the traffic police to the scene of minor accidents. This was reported by the State traffic inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with reference to the data of car insurers. Thus, the share of drivers who executed accidents according to the Euro protocol, that is, without calling the police, for Russia as a whole for 11 months of 2019 amounted to more than 52.6%.
In total, from January to November last year, more than 752.3 thousand car owners took advantage of the Europrotocol when registering accidents. This figure is 20.7% more than in the same period of 2018.
“The simplified procedure for registering a car accident without calling the representatives of the State traffic inspectorate can significantly save the time of drivers of vehicles in an emergency, avoid traffic congestion, and use the personnel of the road patrol service more efficiently,” the ministry said in a statement.
