A court in Irkutsk issued an unprecedented verdict – found the driver who provoked the accident guilty of murder. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Irkutsk region.
On October 8, 2018, a 42-year-old resident of Irkutsk in the area of House No. 2 on Mira Street, driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, deliberately pushed a Kia car driven by a woman into the oncoming lane. For this reason, the Kia collided head-on with Mitsubishi. As a result of the accident, the 27-year-old Mitsubishi driver died, and four people, including children of eight and 12 years old, were injured.
Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case in respect of the accident under the articles “Murder committed in a generally dangerous way”, “Deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm committed with the use of items used as weapons” and “Intentional destruction or damage to property”.
The defendant admitted that he had cut Kia on purpose. The Irkutsk Regional Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison in a maximum security colony.

“This is an unprecedented case of prosecuting a person who has committed a particularly serious crime in this specific way,” the UK noted.
