The Federal State Statistics Service predicts the lowest price increase for gasoline and diesel fuel from 2008 and 2009, respectively, according to the results of 2019.
According to the press service of the department, according to the results of the current year, the increase in gas prices is expected to reach 1.9 percent, diesel fuel – by 2.4 percent. Accordingly, the rise in price will be below the inflation rate, estimated at 2.9 percent.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service believes that a relatively insignificant increase in fuel prices resulted from the introduction of a damping mechanism on January 1, which partially compensates oil companies for lost profits from fuel supplies to the domestic market instead of exports.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Finance, Alexei Sazanov, this mechanism helped to keep fuel prices up by 15 percent: without it, gas would be four rubles per liter more expensive, diesel – two or three rubles.
The Ministry of Energy adds that the growth of motor fuel production was another limiting factor in prices. As of early December, gasoline production increased by 800 thousand tons compared to 2018 (+2.3 percent), diesel fuel – by 1.1 million tons (+1.8 percent), Izvestia writes.
It was previously reported that every fourth liter of winter diesel in Russia turned out to be a fake.
