Porsche has updated the Macan GTS: another engine, now less than 5 seconds to “hundreds”


The Porsche brand brought Macan to the market in 2014, the production of the model was established at the plant in Leipzig (Germany). Previously, the GTS modification was essentially a version of the “younger” version with an increase in the form of the letter S. Now, in the SUV, marked with the letters GTS, the new “filling” is the same as the Turbo version.




The pre-reform Macan GTS, like the S, is equipped with a three-liter V6 engine: in the first version, the output is 360 hp. (and 500 Nm of torque), the second – 340 hp (460 Nm). The maximum speed is 256 and 254 km / h, respectively.

The updated GTS SUV received a 2.9-liter V6 turbo engine with a power of 380 hp under the hood. (520 Nm). This motor was deformed (in the Turbo version it produces 440 hp and 550 Nm), however, these figures are in any case higher than its predecessor – by 20 hp. and 20 Nm. The gearbox was not touched: it is the same seven-speed “automatic machine” PDK with two clutches. The car still has four-wheel drive with a front axle coupling.

As a result of the update, acceleration time from zero to “hundreds” was reduced: now it will take 4.9 seconds (instead of 5.2 seconds for the pre-reform Macan GTS). If we are talking about a crossover with the Sport Chrono package (available optionally), then the figure will drop to 4.7 seconds (previously – 5 seconds). The maximum speed with a new “filling” became higher by 5 km / h (increased to 261 km / h).

The base version of the Macan GTS has a Sport Design package that includes body color sills, as well as front bumper inserts, a diffuser and tailpipes in the same color. In addition, the name of the model and modification is written in black (the nameplate is located on the fifth door). The updated GTS differs from the “regular” Macan in another radiator grill with large cells and glossy-black wheels with an original design of 20 inches. In the cabin – sports seats with lateral support, combined upholstery (leather and Alcantara) and four adjustments.

The initial version is offered with cast-iron brake discs, for a surcharge, tungsten carbide-coated brakes and carbon-ceramic discs are offered. In addition, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) adaptive suspension is standard equipment; in such vehicles, the clearance is 15 mm less (for the Macan S – 205 mm). With the optionally available air suspension, ground clearance will be less by another 10 mm.

In Germany, an updated crossover is already available for order. The company named the starting European price tag of the novelty – 77,880 euros, which is equivalent to about 5.44 million rubles at the current exchange rate. In the United States, the car will arrive in mid-2020. In Russia, the GTS modification will be offered at a price of 5,419,000 rubles. Note that from January to September of this year, 1,110 Macan were sold in Russia (3.7% less than a year earlier). For comparison, in Europe over the same period sold 18 407 units. (17.3% more).

Recall, at the end of the summer of 2019, it became known that the company showed the last gasoline Porsche Macan Turbo. It was expected that the next generation of cross-country will become “rosette” and will move to the electric mobile platform PPE from the Taycan model. However, already in October, information appeared that the manufacturer had decided not to abandon the sale of versions of the SUV with ICE, as customers were not ready for this. Gasoline versions will remain in service until at least 2023.
