Porsche has begun work on the 911 hybrid sports car, although the release of such a modification has not yet been officially confirmed. The prototype has already been put on public roads.
Rumors that Porsche is going to release a hybrid version of the 911 have periodically appeared over the past years. Information about this was also confirmed by company representatives, but now it has gone even further and released a test prototype on public roads.
Michael Steiner, a board member of the brand, told Auto Express in an interview that the sports car platform is ready for hybrid development. However, now the question is how to introduce a gas-electric installation without compromising the appearance of the car.
The director of the sports division, Frank-Steffen Walliser, said that the main difficulty lies in the size of the motor. He explained that it is important for the company to maintain the 2 + 2 landing formula, and at the same time not to lose the luggage space.
In addition, emphasized Frank-Steffan, the brand is not ready to weight the sports car. “If we wanted to do this, it would be easier for us to create a new car,” he concluded.
While there is no information about the approximate timing of the release of new items, but insiders suggest that waiting for it before 2026 makes no sense.
