Korean Kia began to develop India only this year. The Seltos crossover was the first-born, for this country cars are produced locally, at the brand’s new plant. More recently, it was announced that in 2020, the company will “register” two more brand models – a subcompact SUV and a “premium” minivan, their names were not announced. Now, the MPV page has appeared on Kia’s Indian site: as expected, the second model will be Carnival (aka Sedona in the States).

The minivan is so far lit only on teasers (for the impatient – the car flickers in the video, starting at 41 seconds). However, this is enough to understand that the buyers will be offered a Carnival of the 2018 model, while the global one-room car will soon change its design.

For the Indian version, only one engine is declared – diesel 2.2, its power has not yet been disclosed. Carnival is also equipped with such an engine in Korea, where the engine produces 202 hp. and is paired with an eight-speed automatic. In addition, the gasoline V6 3.3 GDI (280 hp), also with 8АКП, is still laid on the model’s homeland. Actual minivan is only front-wheel drive.

As for the “world” Carnival, for the Indian version there are two sunroofs and electric sliding doors. The video, apparently, captures a six-seat top version – with separate seats in the second row and two tablets that are attached to the backs of the front seats. Also, local media read the “premium” van seven- and eight-seat modifications.

A full presentation is likely to take place at Auto Expo, which opens in New Delhi in February. In India, the main competitor to Kia Carnival is considered the Toyota Innova Crysta frame minivan (the closest relative to Fortuner). Toyota MPV with a 150-horsepower 2.4 diesel engine costs from 1,576,000 rupees (about 1,779,000 rubles at the current rate), with a 2.8 diesel engine (174 hp) – from 1,746,000 rupees (1,536,000 rubles). At the same time, Innova Crysta also has a gasoline engine (2.7, 166 hp), its price is from 1 493 000 rupees (1 313 000 rubles).

As for the small crossover Kia, which will also debut in India in 2020, it will be an analog of the Hyundai Venue. According to preliminary data, the SUV will receive the name Sonet.
