Lukashenko gave an order regarding the development of the Belarusian electric car back in the year before last. The other day, during a meeting with scientists, the president was informed that “they are ready to demonstrate electric transport and other developments.” The head of Belarus answered that he would definitely attend the presentation, moreover, on his personal Tesla Model S.
It is known about the “first Belarusian electric car” that it is built on the basis of one of the models manufactured by Belji. Moreover, the entire “filling” of the machine, from the engine to the main systems, – This is an in-house development of local scientists. At the beginning of the project, it was reported that the power reserve of the electric car is 100 kilometers, and it takes about three hours to recharge.
As of January 2020, 362 electric vehicles were registered in Belarus, and the Belarusian Automobile Association called this figure “insignificant”. According to Interfax-West, the current infrastructure and conditions for the import of environmentally friendly transport “cannot contribute to the rapid growth of this segment.” Meanwhile, only last year 54 new stations for charging electric cars were opened in Minsk, and in 2021 it is planned to increase their number to 500 units.
