According to RIA Novosti, with reference to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow, on the whole, the “magnificent four” of the criminals’ funds can be withdrawn: most often, car thieves open cars with electronic devices and turn off the alarm using special scanners. The second most popular method is the classic one, when the locks in the doors and steering columns are opened mechanically. This approach is used on simple machines, for example, on Lada models.

More hijackers steal keys or make duplicates of them. For example, they find on the Internet an advertisement for the sale of a car and learn about its equipment with anti-theft devices. When meeting with the seller, criminals quietly change the key to a duplicate or steal the original keychain. Finally, the fourth popular way is to use a tow truck.
