In Moscow, during the New Year holidays from January 1 to 7, 251 accidents occurred. This was reported in the official Twitter “Center for Traffic Management” (DPC). The ministry said that this is significantly less than in 2019, when 403 accidents were recorded during the same period.
“Thanks to the weather (there was almost no snow), and, most importantly, to people – basically, everyone preferred city transport rather than their cars,” the data center said in a statement.
In turn, the State traffic inspectorate of Moscow said that in the capital from January 1 to 8, 2020, traffic police officers detained 475 drunk drivers on the roads. Of these, 253 drivers refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication.
