The development strategies for the power plants of different concerns differ: Nissan’s alliance partner Mitsubishi intends to completely stop the production of diesel engines within ten years. Porsche has already abandoned diesel power units, and Volvo and Toyota intend to phase out the share of passenger cars on “heavy” fuel.
At the same time, Mazda believes in the promise of technology and intends to introduce a new diesel engine in 2020. Volkswagen continues to work on diesels: the German manufacturer has patented a new exhaust gas purification system, which has reduced emissions by 80 percent.
