The range of the British brand MINI will soon be replenished with a fast and light mid-engined roadster
Andreas Lampka, head of the MINI communications department, said in an interview with Motoring that the British are seriously considering the possibility of releasing a mid-engined roadster and the project may soon get a green light. The British consider the French Alpine A110 to be the main rival for the novelty, the electric engine may turn out to be a power plant, and outwardly it will be very similar to the 2014 MINI Superleggera Vision concept, developed in collaboration with the Milan bodybuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera.
Interestingly, last year was very successful for the BMW concern: for the first time in history, global sales have crossed the bar of two and a half million cars. However, not all divisions of the BMW Group were successful: while BMW M sales immediately increased by 32%, MINI indicators fell by 4%.
