Automotive experts talked about what drivers should do if documents for a passenger car are missing.
Russian experts said whether it is possible to drive in a private car if the documents for it are stolen or lost. The Rules of the Road accurately spell out a list of mandatory documents that should always be with the driver in any situation. Such documents are: driver’s license, insurance policy, STS.
If you lose the certificate of registration of the vehicle, you cannot move by car, as the inspector has the right to fine the driver for 1000 rubles and may delay the car until the circumstances are clarified.
The most difficult thing is the loss of a passport for a vehicle, which will cause difficulties with re-obtaining a certificate of registration, as well as with the sale of a car, registration of an insurance policy or re-registration. However, the TCP can be restored through the public services portal or at the local traffic police office.
A little easier with an insurance policy. It can be restored almost immediately, when contacting an insurance company. However, it is better not to go on the road, since when the inspector stops the car, a fine will be inevitable.
