The promising electric pickup Rivian R1T will have a formidable competitor in the person of Lordstown Endurance. Release of new items should begin in the spring of 2020, but for now the manufacturer decided to unveil the characteristics of its first model

The main news is that the pickup will receive motor wheels, that is, electric motors are built directly into the wheels. While in mass electric vehicles this solution is not applied. The key problems of motor wheels are associated with high cost, an increase in unsprung masses and overall technical complexity.

Meanwhile, Lordstown Endurance’s total engine output is 600 bhp. The dynamics of acceleration has not yet been disclosed, but the declared maximum pickup speed is only 128 km / h. The company does not comment on such a restriction. Perhaps it is due to the desire to reduce energy consumption at high speed. On the other hand, in this case it would be more logical to let the owner choose between profitability and maximum speed in the settings of the electric car. It is reported that the power reserve will be about 320 kilometers.
