One of the world’s largest fire engine vehicle manufacturers, Rosenbauer, has unveiled a production version of the world’s first electric fire engine.
According to representatives of the manufacturer, the electric car turned out to be not only environmentally friendly, but also more compact and maneuverable in comparison with cars with classic internal combustion engines. Also, the novelty is more convenient and safe to manage – now rescuers will not have to climb into the cockpit, since all control can be carried out from the ground.
The authors of the project estimate a fully equipped and ready-to-work car at $ 1.2 million. This is a bit more expensive than traditional trucks, but an electric fire engine is much cheaper to operate and maintain. Therefore, after some time, this initial overpayment is leveled, confident in the company.
Another advantage of the car is its modularity – the role and functionality of the model can be easily changed if necessary. The back part, for example, can be converted into a mini version of the ambulance cab, where rescuers can provide primary medical care and wait for the medical team.
The concept was first introduced back in 2016, then prototypes were sent for tests in Germany and Austria, as a result of which the rescue services had to provide feedback on the operation. Now they have already shown the serial version and it is ready to work on the roads of Europe. In addition, it is fully compliant with US requirements.
