According to Christian Meunier, former president of the Japanese brand Infiniti and current president of the Jeep brand, in an interview with Motoring, under his leadership, the legendary brand will take the course to electrify the model range and gradually switch to environmentally friendly SUVs. According to him, future Jeeps with electric power plants will become the best cars in the history of the brand.
“There is nothing better than driving an SUV in nature in complete silence,” said Meunier.
According to President Jeep, future electric cars will certainly retain their outstanding off-road capabilities and impressive cross-country ability. He also said that brand electrification should begin with three key markets – Europe, China and the USA, after which Jeeps for other countries will be transferred to electric traction. By 2021, according to the plans of the brand, each model will receive a hybrid power plant.
Soon, Jeep SUVs will also gain a number of the latest high-tech options, Meunier promised.
