This year was doubly successful for the British company JCB, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of heavy construction equipment: the Fastrac Two tractor twice a year won the Guinness Book of Records. In June of this year, the upgraded JCB Fastrac Two accelerated to 166.72 km / h, and in November – broke its own record, having traveled the segment at an average speed of 217.57 km / h. The maximum speed of arrival was 247.35 km / h.
During the record race, a tractor was used with a substantially modified diesel engine with a working volume of 7.2 liters, the output of which was 1000 hp. and 2500 Nm of torque. The most interesting technical solution was the intercooler, in which 25 kg of ice was loaded before the race. To facilitate the design, the battery was removed from the tractor, the engine was started by an external battery or generator. The tractor also does not have an air compressor; air is supplied to the brake system from three air tanks installed behind the cab.
A two-speed transmission was replaced by a 6-speed gearbox, which made the tractor more even. A dashboard was dismantled from the passenger compartment, a new racing seat and a fire extinguisher, two emergency hatches were installed. Autocar experts who participated in the test of the tractor, noted the unreliable steps by which the driver rises into the cabin.
