Jaguar stops production of the crossover I-Pace

A number of British publications said that Jaguar Land Rover has suspended the assembly of electric crossovers I-Pace at the Magna plant in Austrian Graz due to a lack of batteries. So the difficulties are only temporary

The batteries for Jaguars are manufactured by the South Korean company LG Chem in Poland and it also supplies Daimler batteries, which last month had to halve the planned annual production of Mercedes-Benz EQC due to lack of components. What caused the supply failure is not yet clear. These may be both LG Chem’s internal problems and the impact of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus infection, but there is no official evidence for either.

Nevertheless, several enterprises outside of China have already announced the threat of stopping conveyors due to a reduction in stocks of materials and components supplied from China. So, Korean Hyundai lacks cable assemblies and harnesses, FCA – a number of components for cars manufactured on European sites.
