The Minister of Environment, Barna Tanczos, announced today that the scrapping premium granted in the “Classic Scrap” Program will increase, in 2021, from 6,500 lei to 7,500 lei, and the budget for the “Scrap Plus” Program will double.

Rabla program

“The Classic Scrap program helps both the citizens and the local industry, through those tickets that are used to change the car fleet. This year we will change the scrapping premium from the program and we will increase from 6,500 to 7,500 lei, approximately 1,500 euros, which will be paid to those people who hand over a registered car, register with the dealer, scrap the car, radiate and old, polluting cars are removed from circulation. Also within the Rabla Clasic program, we have two eco-vouchers that complement the amounts of the scrapping premium and in support of those acquisitions through which cars with hybrid technologies are bought. Here, the eco-voucher increases from 2,500 lei to 3,000 lei, and in the case of the LPG eco-voucher, with emissions below 96 grams of CO2, it increases from 1,000 lei to 1,500 lei “, said Barna Tanczos.

The Minister added that the budget of the Classic Scrap 2021 program will increase by 10% compared to the previous year, from 405 million lei to 440 million lei. Under this program, a person can receive a maximum of 2,250 euros combined with the two eco-bonuses.

More money for Rabla Plus

Regarding this year’s edition of the Rabla Plus Program, the allocated budget will be 400 million lei, double the amount of 2020. “This year’s budget allows the purchase of 6,600 full electric cars and about 5,000 cars plug-in hybrids “, mentioned the dignitary.

“We have seen the reaction of the citizens when a new range or a new electric car appears on the market. We want as many electric cars as possible to run on Romania’s roads, so that the negative polluting impact is less and less. At the moment, the percentage of electric cars in total sales in Romania is around 1% and that is why we need national programs and a more serious involvement of the Ministry of Environment in launching these acquisitions, “said Barna Tanczos.

The official mentioned that the value of the scrapping premiums granted in Rabla Plus remains unchanged, respectively 10,000 euros for 100% electric cars and about 4,500 euros for plug-in hybrid cars, but not more than 50% of the value of the purchased vehicle.

The Minister of Environment stressed that the full computerization of the two government programs will be ensured and that a program for the replacement of school minibuses will also be financed. For this, the amount of 600 million lei will be allocated so that “between 2,500 and 3,000 schools can benefit from new minibuses through this multi-annual program”.
