Ukrainian auto industry has been in decline for decades. The government took several steps to revive it and bring it to a new level, but nothing happened. Now, the initiative was taken by people’s deputies, who proposed creating favorable conditions for the production of electric vehicles in Ukraine (cars, commercial and freight).
In order for this initiative to be implemented, and not just left in words, MP Robert Horvat, with the support of other people’s deputies, registered in the Verkhovna Rada the corresponding bills No. 3476 and No. 3477. In addition to the development of the electric vehicle industry in the country, they provide for a number of benefits that will make electric vehicles of world manufacturers more accessible to Ukrainian consumers.
In particular, the deputies initiated the introduction of tax and customs benefits for both consumers and potential manufacturers of electric vehicles and accessories for them. In particular, by December 31, 2028, to exempt equipment and components for the production of electric vehicles from VAT and import duties, as well as to exempt the profit of automobile enterprises from taxation on December 31, 2033. In addition, the deputies proposed to extend the exemption from VAT on electric vehicles until 2025. Note that now this rule is valid until December 31, 2022.
“We expect significant changes in the whole car market of the country. In Ukraine, there is already sufficient industrial potential for the production of electric vehicles: five bus factories and one truck factory, which have the capacity to produce about 300,000 cars a year. Our projects will help attract investment and develop this industry, ”wrote Horvat on his Facebook page.
