This modification of the Volga got on the conveyor of the Gorky plant in 1982. The car was built on the basis of the GAZ-24, but is designed for a more solvent audience. Therefore, the interior was made more representative: in the decoration of the front panel, wood was used, and the seats of the specimen for sale were made of light fabric.
At the start of production, the model was small-scale – only three thousand copies were produced per year. However, after the collapse of the USSR, the sedan lost its exclusive status and turned into a mass car. In total, about 156 thousand cars rolled off the assembly line during the production period.
