From January 1 to January 8, 2020, traffic police officers detained 475 drunk drivers on the roads in Moscow. Of these, 253 drivers refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication. It is reported by the State traffic inspectorate of Moscow.
“In addition, officers of the road patrol service detained 20 drivers who re-controlled their cars while intoxicated, who would subsequently be prosecuted under Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code “Violation of the rules of the road by a person subjected to administrative punishment,” the department said.
Currently, drivers are punished for driving while intoxicated by deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of one and a half to two years, as well as a fine of 30 thousand rubles. The same penalty is provided for the transfer of control to a drunk driver.
