The final decision can only be made after a careful study of the views of all parties and approval by the country’s leadership
On December 20, Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, who heads the government commission on road safety, announced the readiness of the plan, according to which, in the next one to two years, the regions will be able to independently reduce the non-penalty threshold from the current 20 to 10 km / h. However, now his representative told the press that the Commission on Road Safety did not make a decision to reduce the speed threshold.
“In the process of preparing proposals on the issue of ensuring road safety, various measures to reduce the accident rate on roads were considered, including the revision of the non-fined threshold for speeding. However, the road safety commission does not make decisions that create legal norms, and cannot directly amend the regulatory legal acts regulating various aspects of road traffic, ”TASS quoted the representative of Akimov.
